Assigning agents to agent handlers

Use this task to assign agents to specific handlers.

You can assign systems individually, by group, and by subnet. Handlers assignments can specify an individual handler or list of handlers to use.

The list that you specify can be made up of individual or groups of handlers.
Task
For option definitions, click ? in the interface.
1 Go to Configuration | Agent Handlers | Handler Assignments, then click New Assignment.
2 Specify a unique name for this assignment.
3 Specify the agents for this assignment.
a Click Add Tree Locations to browse your system tree for systems and groups to add.
b Type IP address (individual or ranges) or subnet masks in the text box to add systems
manually.
4 Click either Use all agent handlers or Use custom handler list. Agents randomly select which handler to communicate with when Use all agent handlers is selected.
5 When using a custom handler list, select the handler or handler group from the Handler
Priority drop-down menu.

NOTE: When using a custom handler list, use and to add and remove additional
agent handlers to the list (an agent handler can be included in more than one group). Use
to change the priority of handlers. Priority determines which handler agents try to
communicate with first. For more information, see Agent Handlers and how they work.
